We have to thank very much to the German Language Teacher Department for their collaboration.

Our French Club in Braşov

On 23th of February, our club was invited by the  French Association in Braşov.  They were real great hosts: all the staff were waiting us with French cakes. We visited their library. We visited also a real interesting photo exhibition, called HIDRO-GENE. The photos introduced us in the miracle of the underwater  world.
We had the privilege that Mrs. Christel Stratinovici, the artist of  those photos was with us too!  She is from France. We had a real interesting discussion with her.
At the end of the program we visited a little the ''George Bariţiu'' County Library
and the "Áprily Lajos" High School.  They are in good collaboration with the Alianţa Franceză.
We have thank very much to the French Association for the program, for their hospitality and support.

Black History Week

On January our American Corner  celebrates 5 years of existence!
In all these years one of our aim was to improve language learning and development of our English skills in an informal environment, through the Mikes Kelemen High School Library.
With our American friends we encouraged our students to learn more about American culture.
We found solutions for ''bridging the digital divide'' by contacting and working together with students from American school libraries.
Each of us is working as a volunteer in the Mikes' American Corner.
The celebration was dedicated to the American Black History and to Martin Luther King's Day.
Here is the program:
Tuesday (25.01.20011) Courtney Brown was discussing with our students about  Martin Luther King and the civil rights.
Wednesday (26.01.2011) the Mikes Kelemen High School's Chorus was singing gospels.
Thursday  (27.01.2011) Kiss Botond Imre & Friends were singing blues and the other students presented the famous Afro-American writers, civil right activists, movie stars and singers.
In the afternoon  we were meeting with the Gamewell Elementary School / Lenoir / North Carolina , our partners in the World View Project, after that Mrs. Anne Boyd saluted us from Texas.
Friday (28.01.2011) the virtual  meeting with Monroe City R-1 Schools (Missouri) students, our pen pal partners,  was postponed because of technical problems. We had luck with the other meeting, with the library of  Dr. Matin Luther King Jr. School Complex / Atlantic City / New Jersey. This time everything was working.
What can we say at the end? The photos are not enough good to show to you how beautiful was the celebration. Soon we shall do a movie and upload on the internet.
We want ot thank you to our students, to the English Teacher Department, to the famous Mikes Kelemen High School Chorus, to Szőcs Dániel (our chorus-master), Bálint Alfréd (our cameraman), to Kiss Botond & Friends, to Courtney Brown (Peace Corp volunteer) and our American partners from USA for their work and support.
