International School Library Month

 

Every October is an important event for school libraries around the World. At the beginning of the millennium, Mikes Kelemen Theoretical High School was among the first in Romania to join the IASL (International Association of School Librarianship) initiative.

Since then, it has become a tradition.

 Every year, our students eagerly await the interactive stories created by the librarian.

Over 350 children participated at the events organized by our library.

We would like to thank to our school masters very much for their cooperation!

Erasmus+ dissemination

 

Between April 3-7, representing our school, prof. Réka Gyergyay and librarian László Kiss, within an Erasmus+ program, learned about WEB 2.0 tools that can be used in education. 

The very useful course, held in Barcelona, ​​was disseminated on 10.05.2023, during a meeting of the teaching staff of the Mikes Kelemen Theoretical High School. 

The colleagues appreciated extremely positively the presentation of the two.

Exhibition opening

 The bookmarks sent by the readers of the Osnovna Skola XIV Divizije school library / Slovenia arrived in Romania. 

Those students, who participated to the bookmark exchange, were there too at the official exhibition opening.

Hungarian National Folk Tale Day

 

The Mikes Kelemen High School Library celebrated too, 30 of September, the birthday of Benedek Elek, the famous Hungarian folk tale writer.

This time we made it longer, because Benedek Elek is our fellow countryman. 

It was about the Hungarian National Folk Tale Day, so our librarian told the folk tales using elements of Benedek Elek's tales and the Hungarian folk tales with the help of participants.

Mikes Cycling Pilgrimage to Zagon

 

 We succeeded to organize the Mikes Kelemen Pilgrimage to Zagon this time too. Due to the Covid19 situation, our students were not allowed to come with us on our schools traditional celebration.  

Small but newer the less very enthusiastic teacher+librarian squad did the 62km tour. 

Nothing stopped us .  

The weather was fine, but we expected anytime to receive a good rain. 

The people of Zagon were expected us. It was a great privilege that the Zagon representatives, Mr. Kiss Augustin (the mayor), Mr. Macovei Florin Constantin (the vicemayor), and Mr. Márton János (the cultural manager)were waiting for us. It was very heartwarming and touchy. 

We enwreathed together the monument.                 

And after the celebrations the hosts were treated us regale. 

Then we visited the  great writer's Oaks. .  

Then we visited the local Mikes Kelemen Secondary School. 

 It was so hard to say goodbye to Zágontól. Thank you for all! We'll be back next year! .

Jövőre is itt leszünk!  

Know Your Library!

 Many school library projects were postponed or modified by  Covid19.  

Therefore our 1st graders were able to meet very late their school library. Hopefully they can lend books in the next semester, but this was not an obstacle to know better their library and library services.

A new board for dissemination

The "Yourope: You in Europe" Erasmus+ team created a new special board for disseminating  our second year activity.

Our students and the local community can see it at our school's main corridor.

At the end of the school year, during on a meeting,  the librarian presented all the activities organized in 2019, during the "Yourope: You in Europe" / Erasmus+  KA219 Project.

Europe Days

8-9.05.2019 Europe days in Liceul Teoretic Mikes Kelemen School Library. 

Our first graders lend books for the first time. It was a good opportunity to teach the some basic things about the European Union and at the end of the class they received as a gift some brochures too about the EU

Mikes in USA

The Mikes Kelemen High School's librarian visited Phoenix, Arizona.  

We were in the folloving school libraries: North Canyon High School, Larkspur Elementary School, Arrowhead Elementary School, Pinnacle High School, Boulder Creek Elementary School, Grayhawk Elementary School. 

.... and learn with other colleagues  in TOC Phoenix.

We created a special place in our school where we put all important moments of the project from the beginning till now.

Fairytale Day

On 30th of September we celebrate the birthday of  Benedek Elek, a famous fairytale writer from our region. We initially intended to organize our event only on that day, but ... surprise, many children wanted to be with us! That's why we shall cellebrate on the whole month. 

Here is our program:  

1. Some children from the elementary classes will tell fairytales. 

2. Tom Thumb told by the librarian on his own version 

3. "Kreator or the birth of a fairytale" - puppet theater with the help of the objects and puppets chosen by the children. 

Erasmus+ after Finland

We created an exhibition on our Erasmus+ meeting held in Finland.
The end of the school year was a good opportunity for dissemination, because the students had to get back their textbooks.

The librarian was the guide of the exhibition.

We did not forget our teachers too.

Europe Day Celebratiom

“Alone in a Foreign Country”, Europe Day Celebration in the “Liceul Teoretic Mikes Kelemen” school library.

Our 7th graders presented stories about their emigration in a foreign country during an imaginary war.
